A Lifetime of Wonder Became a Story

Richard Collins has always been the kind of person who looks at the night sky and wonders, in a way of someone who genuinely cannot let the question go. What is out there? Are we supposed to find out? And if we do, what kind of people will we be when we get there?

He served in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter that shaped the way he sees duty, character, and the cost of standing up for something. A service-connected disability ended that part of his life, but it did not slow down what came next. He went on to work in insurance, project management, and technical writing, each field adding a new lens through which he read the world.

Collins lives in Oklahoma with his wife Patricia, the person this book is dedicated to. He has four children and grandchildren who keep him grounded in the things that matter. When he is not writing, he fishes, hunts, and occasionally tests his patience on the golf course with results he will freely admit are less impressive than the first two.

I’ve always believed the universe is bigger, stranger, and far more connected than we realize. Writing “Otherworld Bound” was my way of exploring what happens when ordinary people finally discover that truth.
