Every story needs a door. The moment a character walks through it, everything changes. In Otherworld Bound, that door is a supply room in a research laboratory, and the person standing behind the counter knows things he has absolutely no reason to know. I want to talk about where that idea came from, and why it felt more interesting to me than starting the story with something loud and obvious. The most unsettling discoveries are the quiet ones. The person who should not know what they know. That is the detail that stays with you.
