United National is the governing structure at the center of Otherworld Bound, and I did not invent it out of thin air. I thought about what it would actually take for the world to move toward a single government, and more importantly, who would benefit from it if they did. The answer I kept arriving at was not a reassuring one. Writing fiction about political structures gave me the freedom to follow that question as far as it needed to go. What I found on the other end surprised even me.
